The role :
The successful candidate will be in charge of the optical systems developments, their modeling, design and experimental characterization, exploiting unique micro-optics in a polymer-based technology.
The applications will be oriented toward both optical fiber and free space communications and sensing. The candidate will bring her/his experience in the design and testing of such optical microsystems, developed at the chip/wafer level and will provide her/his experience in the development of their packaging.
The work will be focused on the research and development of new solutions for high-level end-users and customers.
Major Responsabilities / Tasks :
- Innovate into the development of new optical products for optical fiber communication and free space optics
- Optical modeling and design of micro-optics in a polymer-based technology directly at the chip level with different optical functionalities.
- Optical characterization of devices and systems, from the chip to the module
- Drive continuous improvement & optimization activities to meet production targets, including capacity, quality, and performance
- Collaborate with the appropriate teams to assess and recommend technologies that support company product needs and future developments
- Participate to industrial meetings as well as international technical and scientific international events and conferences
- Assist marketing and customers into the definition of new products by driving feasibility studies, and providing estimation of future product performance
- Create and update the company’s technological and technical documentation.
Major Desired Skills :
- PhD degree in Photonics or related field
- Strong Optical Engineering Background: Photonics, Optics, Optical fiber communications, Free space optics, optoelectronics, Lasers.
- Strong numerical and analytical modeling skills and related design skills to support process, device or system designs (LightTools, RSoft, CodeV, Zemax, Matlab, COMSOL, etc.)
- Strong skills in optical systems characterization and laboratory instrumentation
- Analytical approach to problem solving
- Strong motivational and self-learning skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and related skills
- Ability to lead and manage a team of colleagues
- First experience.
